In this list you will see many of the early carriers were actually individuals operating trucking companies as sole proprietors. This is the earliest compilation of those operating trucking companies lines within the state of Iowa and it is from the 1927 Iowa Railroad Commission Annual Report. In the very early years of motor freight in that state it was the responsibility of the Railroad Commission to approve what they called Certificate Of Authority, or the right to operate a motor freight carrier in Iowa.
