Long time readers of this website know my obsession with using City Directories to get information on fallen flag trucking companies and the people who worked for them. I’m starting a new segment called Who, When and Where. Every so often I’ll use this segment to post information that won’t fill up an entire article.

Using current item listings on EBay I’ll see which city directory listings show a full page where pertinent information can be found. Here is what I found today. It will list the year, the city, the name of the employee, their position and the company.

1936- Albuquerque, New Mexico Roy D Strome, Secretary-Treasurer for Springer Transportation Co.

1944- Elgin, Illinois Ervin W Kadow, Assistant Dispatcher for Knox Motor Service in Chicago

1945- Toledo, Ohio Mrs. Marton Ankeny, cashier at CCC Highway, Inc.

1948-Birmingham, Alabama OE Palmer, driver with Deaton Truck Line

1948 Birmingham, Alabama Robert Palmer, laborer with Southern Motor Express

1948 Birmingham, Alabama Eugene H Higgins, driver with Deaton Truck Line

1952- Toledo, Ohio Louise M Bolger, clerk with Liberty Highway

1959- Mansfield, Ohio James A Richardson, employee of CCC Highway

1964- Bowling Green, Kentucky Arnold Franklin, driver with Meeks Motor Freight

1967- Perrysburg, Ohio (being a suburb of Toledo I assume all of the three that follows worked in Toledo)

Dianne Beam employed by Roadway Express, Philip E Echard was a truck driver with Associated Truck Lines, and William A Lau was manager at Yellow Freight Lines
